About Kindness Junction

Small, careful tools for meeting people where they are: in braille, in sign, in plain words and in large print.

What it is

Kindness Junction has four tools: a braille translator for grade 1 Unified English Braille with a printable dot sheet, an ASL fingerspelling chart and practice, a plain-language and readability checker, and a large-print sign maker.

How it is built

Everything runs in your browser and works with a keyboard alone. Text has strong contrast in light and dark modes, controls are large, and the site respects your system settings for dark mode and reduced motion. Nothing you type is uploaded, and the tools keep working offline once a page has loaded.

Where the rules come from

The braille translator follows the International Council on English Braille's rulebook for Unified English Braille. The readability scores use the published Flesch and Flesch-Kincaid formulas, and the colour contrast checks use the WCAG 2.2 formula. Each page lists its sources. These tools help with everyday tasks; for published braille, official signage or legal documents, ask a qualified transcriber, designer or editor to check the result.
